Product Overview & Application Area
The Schönberg SPSR 2000 is a stratified buffer tank with a net capacity of 1976 liters for heating water in closed heating systems. It supports the absorption, storage, and temperature-controlled stratification of heating water and can be used in water-based heating systems with various heat generators.
Thanks to the lower heat exchanger, the tank is also suitable for integrating solar thermal systems or a system-side heat source. The hydraulic connection depends on the system concept, including the heat generator, solar circuit, heating circuits, control system, and optional electric backup heating.
Technology & Equipment
The SPSR 2000 is designed as a stratified buffer tank with a lower heat exchanger. The tank design supports orderly temperature stratification and facilitates the usable supply of heating water within the system.
For hydraulic integration, connections for charging and discharging, sensor and controller connections, a vent, and connection options for electric heating elements are available. Heating elements are planned at the designated connection nozzles in the middle and bottom of the tank.
Everyday Benefits
As a large-volume buffer tank, the SPSR 2000 can hydraulically decouple heat generators and heating circuits, stabilizing heat distribution in the system. This is particularly helpful in systems where multiple heat sources or different heating circuits are combined.
The available insulation variants allow for system- and space-related selection. For the SPSR 2000, 100 mm EPS and 130 mm EPS are available with different energy efficiency classes and standby heat losses.
System Integration & Compatibility
The SPSR 2000 is suitable as a stratified buffer tank for water-based heating systems with wood heating, heat pump, electric backup heating, or other suitable heat generators. Additional solar thermal energy or a system-side heat source can be integrated via the lower heat exchanger.
The tank is not designed as a standalone domestic hot water appliance. The safety group, expansion vessel, venting, control system, solar circuit, and heat generator must be planned and professionally sized to match the specific system.

Assembly
The storage tank must be installed on a load-bearing, level and frost-free surface. Before assembly, the transport route, tilting dimensions, door widths, ceiling height and later accessibility for maintenance and connection work should be checked.
The hydraulic connections must be made without tension. Heat exchanger connections, sensor positions, venting, safety group, filling and draining valves as well as optional heating cartridges are implemented to suit the system concept.
Notes
The SPSR 2000 is intended for heating water in closed heating systems and does not replace a domestic hot water storage tank. The maximum permissible tank pressure of 3 bar and the maximum operating temperature of 95 °C must not be exceeded.
The electrical connection of optional heating cartridges must be carried out in accordance with the respective heating cartridge. The insulation may only be fully closed after the leak test has been completed.
