Product Overview & Application Area
The GEMA FK 400 hygienic storage tank is a fresh water combination storage tank with a net capacity of 396 liters and an integrated stainless steel corrugated pipe for hygienic domestic hot water heating using the instantaneous heating principle. The heating water is stored in the tank, while the domestic hot water is heated on demand via the stainless steel corrugated pipe.
The FK 400 is suitable for closed heating systems and can be integrated into suitable heating, solar thermal, or heat pump systems. It is therefore a suitable storage solution for systems in which heating water storage and hygienic domestic hot water heating are to be combined in one system.
Technology & Equipment
The storage tank is equipped with a stainless steel corrugated pipe with a heating surface of 6 m². For hydraulic integration, 8 charging and discharging connections with 1 1/2" female thread are available. In addition, there are 4 sensor and controller connections with 1/2" female thread, a vent with 1 1/4" female thread, and 2 connections for electric heating cartridges with 1 1/2" female thread.
Two EPS insulation variants are assigned to the FK 400: 100 mm EPS with energy class C and 130 mm EPS with energy class A. Both variants are intended for the FK 400 storage tank size and differ in outer diameter and standby heat loss.
Everyday Benefits
The instantaneous heating principle supports hygienic hot water preparation, as the domestic hot water is not permanently stored in the tank. At the same time, the tank serves as a heating water storage tank and thus supports clean integration into appropriately planned heating systems.
The available insulation variants allow for a needs-based selection between compact EPS insulation and stronger EPS insulation with lower standby heat loss. The available connection options facilitate integration into various system concepts.
System Integration & Compatibility
The FK 400 is intended for closed heating systems and can be combined with suitable heat generators, solar thermal systems, or heat pump systems. The specific integration depends on the system design, connection concept, safety equipment, and the permissible operating limits.
The existing sensor and controller connections allow the storage tank to be integrated into suitable control concepts. Electric heating cartridges may only be used at the connections provided for this purpose.
Technical data at a glance
| Storage tank type | Hygiene storage tank |
| Storage volume | 396 liters net capacity without heat exchanger |
| Heat exchanger | 1 integrated stainless steel corrugated pipe |
| Insulation | 100 mm EPS or 130 mm EPS |
| Max. operating temperature | 95 °C |
| Max. operating pressure of the tank | 5 bar |
| Height with insulation | 1,500 mm |
| Weight without insulation | 116 kg |
Installation
Installation, hydraulic connection, filling and commissioning must be carried out by qualified personnel. The tank is installed standing, frost-proof and on a load-bearing surface. When positioning it, the tilting dimension without insulation of 1,530 mm must be taken into account.
The insulation should be installed without tension and aligned so that connections, sensor positions and venting remain freely accessible. Before commissioning, connections, fittings, venting and sensor positions must be checked.
Notes
The tank may only be operated within the permitted operating limits. The vessel is subject to a maximum operating pressure of 5 bar and a maximum operating temperature of 95 °C. The stainless steel corrugated pipe is subject to a maximum operating pressure of 10 bar.
System planning, safety equipment, hydraulic integration and sizing must be carried out professionally. The tank size FK 400 serves for model identification; the actual net capacity is 396 liters.
