Product Overview & Application Area
The GEMA MDC 400 Bundle Module Heating Element TEHP6 combines an MDC 400 heating module with a matching 6.0 kW electric heating element for 400 V. The bundle is intended for electric supplementary heating in central heating systems and supports existing heat generators in the heating circuit.
The MDC module is used as a hydraulically integrated heating module, while the TEHP6 heating element provides the electric heat output. This makes the set suitable for reheating, frost protection support, emergency heat support, and the additional use of surplus electricity when the system is planned and integrated accordingly.
Technology & Equipment
The MDC 400 heating module is designed for central heating systems and features a steel tank with 50 mm polyurethane foam insulation. The connection to the heating circuit is made via female thread G 1 1/4", and the connection for the electric heating cartridge is via female thread G 1 1/2".
The TEHP6 heating element corresponds to the 6.0 kW version of the WPI series. It operates at 400 V, has a sheath material of Incoloy 825, an IP54 protection rating, a temperature controller in the range of approx. 30 to 75 °C, and a safety temperature limiter at approx. 98 °C.
Everyday Benefits
The bundle creates a clearly assignable combination of heating module and matching electric heating cartridge. Operators thus receive an electric supplementary heat source that can support existing heating systems during temporary heat demand or as an additional heat source.
This solution is particularly helpful where an existing heat generator is to be supplemented without completely changing the basic structure of the heating system. The clear separation between module and heating element also facilitates technical assessment, spare part allocation, and later maintenance.
System Integration & Compatibility
The MDC 400 module is intended for open or closed central heating systems with appropriate safety devices. Water or a suitable glycol mixture up to a maximum concentration of 50% is permitted as the medium.
Integration takes place in a parallel heating circuit on the flow or return of the main heat source. For the 6.0 kW version, a minimum flow rate of 343 l/h or approx. 5.72 l/min must be ensured. An additional circulation pump and a suitable safety valve must be taken into account when planning the system.

Installation
The hydraulic integration of the MDC module must be carried out professionally into the heating circuit. Before switching on, the system and module must be completely filled and vented. The required minimum flow rate must be ensured via an additional circulation pump.
The electrical connection of the TEHP6 heating element may only be carried out by qualified electricians. The power supply may only be activated after the system has been filled, vented, and professionally inspected.
Notes
Dry running is not permitted and can cause damage to the heating element. The housing of the heating cartridge must not be covered or thermally insulated. A suitable safety valve with an opening pressure of 1.0 MPa is required.
The bundle does not replace proper system planning, heat load assessment, or electrical sizing. The design of fusing, wiring, safety devices, and hydraulic integration must match the specific system.
