Product Overview & Application Area
The MDC 400 Bundle DEH36 6 kW combines an Elektromet MDC 400 heating module with a matching DEFRO ZGTi screw-in heating element DEH36. The set is designed for additional electric heat input into central heating systems and is suitable for heating circuits where electric reheating or supplementary heat is technically intended.
The module is integrated into open or closed central heating systems and can support existing heat generators such as solid fuel boilers, water-bearing fireplaces, gas or oil boilers, as well as heat pumps. Use of surplus electricity, for example from photovoltaic systems, is also possible with appropriate system and control integration.
Technology & Equipment
The MDC 400 is the hydraulic heating module for the heating circuit. It features a steel tank, 50 mm polyurethane foam insulation, a plastic outer casing, and a heating circuit connection stub with internal thread G 1 1/4". The sleeve for the electric heating cartridge is designed with internal thread G 1 1/2".
The DEFRO ZGTi DEH36 heating rod provides the electric heating output. This variant operates at 6.0 kW at 400 V / 3 x 230 V, features temperature control from 30 to 75 °C, a safety temperature limiter at 98 °C, protection rating IP55, and a 5-core connection cable without plug.
Everyday Benefits
The bundle creates a clearly defined electric supplementary heat source for the heating circuit. This allows an existing heating system to be flexibly extended, for example for reheating, frost protection support, or temporary electric heat input.
By combining the module with the matching heating cartridge, the separate selection of the basic components is no longer necessary. Nevertheless, proper hydraulic integration, electrical design, and ensuring the required minimum flow rate remain crucial.
System Integration & Compatibility
The MDC 400 is integrated into a parallel heating circuit on the flow or return line of the main heat source. For the 6.0 kW version, a minimum flow rate of 343 l/h must be ensured. For this purpose, an additional circulation pump must be provided, which is connected in parallel to the heating cartridge.
The heating module is intended for water or a suitable glycol mixture with a maximum concentration of 50%. The system must be completely filled, safely vented, and protected against excessive pressure increase.

Installation
The hydraulic installation is carried out in a parallel heating circuit on the flow or return of the main heat source. For operation, the system must be completely filled and vented. MDC 400 can be integrated horizontally or vertically, provided that proper venting and the specifications of the supplied product documentation are observed.
The electrical connection may only be carried out by qualified professionals. Fusing, cable cross-section, residual current protection, disconnecting device, and control connection must be designed to suit the system and the applicable regulations.
Notes
Dry running is not permitted. The device may only be switched on when the module, heating element, and heating circuit are completely filled with water and safely vented. The required minimum flow rate must be ensured by an additional circulation pump.
A functioning safety valve with the appropriate opening pressure is required. No shut-off valves may be installed between the safety valve and the device. The product specifications do not replace system planning, heat load calculation, or electrical sizing.
